Giving Tuesday is December 3, 2019. As our holiday community service project, we are raising funds and supplies for LifeLine Animal Project, a 501(c)(3) non-profit based here in Atlanta. LifeLine’s mission is to end the euthanasia of healthy, treatable cats and dogs in metro Atlanta shelters. They serve as the managing organization for Fulton County Animal Services and the DeKalb County Animal Services shelter.
There are several ways you can help with our project:
1. Donate directly online. Check the box that says “This gift is in honor, memory, or support of a person or pet” and please note Atlanta Law Library Association in the comments. Let us know of your donation and forward a copy of your receipt to ALLA member Sansanee Sermprungsuk.
2. Purchase wish list items. Lifeline has a list of supplies they accept as donations, and they also have Amazon wishlists for their Avondale, DeKalb, and Fulton facilities. You may bring items to the holiday party or ship directly to the facility of your choice.
3. Bring checks and gift cards to the party! Sansanee will also be collecting checks and gift cards along with any supplies. LifeLine accepts gift cards from the following retailers: Costco, Home Depot, Lowes, Petco, Petsmart, Target, and Walmart.
If you’re interested in other ways to help, you can volunteer through activities such as fostering (cats, kittens, dogs, or puppies), taking out a shelter dog for a few hours through their Dog for the Day program or for a longer break as a Weekend Warrior. Such programs give the animals a chance to de-stress and provide LifeLine with information about their personalities and ability to interact with people, kids, and other animals which can help get them adopted. You can also go to one of the shelters and walk dogs, play with cats to socialize them, or even help in the kitten nursery. There are also tasks like cleaning, laundry, social media, or taking photographs of the animals. Basically, there are many ways to help this organization that can suit your interests and time commitments.
Your contribution to this very worthy cause is most welcome. See you at the ALLA holiday party!
